The Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Beijing is looking to recruit an experienced and result oriented food and agricultural advisor to take on a full-time position within the Embassy’s Food and Agriculture team.

Your job will be to work with Danish and Chinese authorities on public affairs, market access and regulatory affairs advisory related to export of Danish food, agricultural and fisheries products to China, as well as to provide other commercial assistance as needed by the Danish exporters.

The position is placed within Trade Council China (TCC) that is a fully integrated part of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark, China and the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Trade Council China consists of six industry teams, focusing on export promotion, innovation and invest, with approximately 50 employees in four locations. The TCC teams deliver highly specialised and professional services to assist Danish businesses in their activities in China. As an employee of Trade Council China you will be expected to deliver consistently high quality professional assistance and to contribute to the delivery of specific targets (KPI’s) for the TCC team.

You will be reporting directly to the team leader for the Embassy’s Food and Agriculture team. Your physical location will be within the Food and Agriculture at the Embassy in Beijing but you will also be working closely with other team colleagues at the Trade Council China offices in Shanghai, Guangzhou and Taipei.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

· Public affairs, market access and regulatory affairs advisory and support.

· Market and business condition analysis and reporting.

 

· Liaising with Danish and Chinese government entities.

· Coordination of market inspections and official visits to and from Denmark.

· Various business development activities within the Trade Council China framework, including stakeholder engagement through meetings, industry seminars, round tables and other forms of business interactions.

· Outreach and initiation of first contact to government officials and potential Danish and Chinese business partners.

 

Required Qualifications:

We are looking for a food and agricultural professional with a minimum of 5 years of experience, excellent interpersonal and team working skills, and an ability to deliver agreed outcomes of a high quality and within the agreed timeframes, as well as:

· Experience in delivering public affairs, market access and regulatory affairs advisory services in an international setting.

· A good understanding of the food, agricultural and fisheries sectors, as well as a strong commercial sense.

· A high degree of knowledge of the Chinese legislative framework and governmental processes related to food, agricultural and fisheries products.

· Good communication and negotiation skills, and an ability to disseminate technical information to a broad range of stakeholders.

· Being proactive, self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

· Being structured and with excellent planning and coordination skills.

· Having the flexibility to be able to travel within China and occasionally to Denmark.

· International experience from studying or working abroad or from working within an international company or setting is an advantage.

· Excellent command of English and Mandarin - orally and written.

 

The Trade Council provides access to China for Danish companies, including providing assistance and advisory related to market access, public and regulatory affairs. Other assistance includes developing market entry strategies, and undertaking market analysis and partner searches to support Chinese-Danish business collaborations.

Employment conditions:

· You will be hired as a mission employed (local terms) Commercial Advisor.

· The employer is the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Beijing.

· You will be offered full time employment in accordance with the “Local Staff Rules” of the Danish representations in China.

· Your standard working hours are 40 hours per week. · Your salary will reflect your qualifications, relevant work experience and proven work-related results.
